Inspiration can come from a number of areas. Knowing your current customers will go a long way to understanding who your target market is. If you are thinking "How do I find all this information?" Search online for research others have completed on your target.

Search for blogs and forums where people in your target market communicate their opinions. Start to immerse yourself in their world. Look for survey results, or consider conducting a survey of your own. Ask your current customers for feedback.

Similar to all marketing, defining your current target market is the hard bit, the rest, specifically for SEO, is made all the easier with a well defined target market.
